iTunes stinks to high heaven. It takes forever to update the music database after adding MP3s to the music folder on your computer, there is no meta search to update the ID3 tags in the MP3s, and iTunes is resource intensive. I’ve been playing around with software that can manage the music and videos on my iPod and I think I have my top pick.

is my favorite app to manage music to and from my iPod. Simply select a folder where the music is stored, then drag and drop to the iPod. Also, there is a nice feature built-in where once plugging your iPod into your computer, automatically launches.

There are 2 editions of MediaMonkey, Pro and Free. I use the free edition because I don’t need to convert audio formats or sync with multiple devices. Definitely give the free edition a try!
